Fukushou (伏勝) is a battalion commander in the Palace Guard of the Right. He served under Asen during Emperor Kyou’s and Gyousou’s dynasties and was promoted to security director at Nightingale Villa when Taiki returns to Hakkei Palace during Asen’s dynasty. He is a cheerful and friendly man, which confuses Boushuku as he is used to security directors with more crusty personalities. Unlike most of Asen’s retainers, he is well aware of the gap between Asen and Taiki and understands the way well enough to know that serving Taiki was most important even if it meant treating Asen like the enemy.

Career[]

Little is known about Fukushou’s career aside from the fact that he was a battalion commander under Asen (his commanding isn’t specified). As a soldier, he isn’t good with paperwork and therefore is always seen to be mentally worn out and working in a messy environment while he is serving as the security director at Nightingale Villa.

Asen's Dynasty[]

Before Taiki returns to Hakkei Palace, Fukushou’s post is unknown. It can be assumed that he was one of the many who were unhappy with the way Asen hid himself away in the Rokushin and cut himself off from his retainers. As friendly and teasing as he is, Fukushou is aware that serving under Taiki meant treating Asen as the enemy. He takes Keitou seriously when he asks for reforms in Taiki’s security and takes Gogetsu into his confidence. When Shison’s men try to attack Taiki, he works together with Ganchou and Yari to stop the culprits. However, after Asen reveals that he was aware of Taiki’s lie the entire time, the security detail at Nightingale Villa is replaced with soldiers who are entirely loyal to Asen.

Gyousou's Rescue[]

Unlike Boushuku, Fukushou and most of the guards at Nightingale Villa are not stationed within the Hall of Supreme Harmony no doubt due to their loyalty to Taiki. However, this gives him and his colleagues freedom to move, and they work together with Ganchou to free Seirai and cover his escape. No one knows if he survived.

Relationships[]

Boushuku[]

Despite the much younger Boushuku’s recent promotion to centurion, Fukushou doesn’t hesitate to make small talk with him and is comfortable enough to tease him. By the end of their conversation about Boushuku’s career, Fukushou complains about doing desk work, prompting Boushuku to offer to help him out whenever he could. However, Fukushou doesn’t share his personal thoughts about the current relationship between Asen and his retainers with him.

Gogetsu[]

As fellow commanders who used to serve under Asen, they empathize with each other’s plight. It can be argued that because of this, Fukushou is much closer to Gogetsu than he is to Boushuku. When Keitou asks Fukushou to reform the security at Nightingale Villa, Fukushou takes Gogetsu into his confidence and tells him that serving under Taiki means treating Asen as the enemy. Seeing the truth in his words, Gogetsu readily agrees and works with him to improve Taiki’s security. During Gyousou’s rescue, Gogetsu is among the soldiers from Nightingale Villa who help Ganchou rescue Seirai.

Ganchou & Yari[]

As the security director at Nightingale Villa, Fukushou has a responsibility to work with Taiki’s two Daiboku. They have a conflict-free professional relationship, and it can be assumed from Yari’s thoughts several times that she had a friendlier relationship with the guards under Fukushou’s command. Fukushou works with Ganchou and Yari to protect Taiki during Shison’s attack on him.
